Tesco: Every Little Helps!!

We were delighted and surprised to get a call from Orla in Tesco,  Bailieboro, to say they had a cheque for us for €275 as part of their community fund.  Orla came to assembly today to make the presentation.

Thank you to whoever nominated us and to all those who shopped in Tesco in Bailieboro and who used their tokens to vote for us!

We are going to develop a sensory garden and will use the money to help fund this project.

Safer Internet Day

CyberSafeIreland has released a short video for parents on Internet Safety Day 2017

Please watch this very informative video clip.

Wednesday 8th February was safer internet day.  Research shows that a high percentage of pupils at primary school have experienced cyber bullying.  Children do not have unsupervised access of the internet at school, nor are they allowed to use or bring smart phones etc to school.  Therefore, as parents, it is extremely important that you monitor your child’s activity on-line.  You need to know what social media and other sites your child is a member of and monitor their posts.  If their account is password protected you must have access to their password.  This should be a condition of them having a smart device and having internet access.

Presidential visit!!!

The staff and pupils of Billis were surprised and honoured today by a visit from the INTO (Irish National Teachers’ Organisation) President, Rosena Jordan.  Ms Jordan took time out of her hectic schedule to pop in to say hello.  She showed the pupils her chain of office and talked a little bit about her work as president of the INTO. She admired our outdoor classroom and some of the pupils got to try on her chain! Thank you for dropping in , Rosena!
