Planting our mini orchard!

We planted a mini orchard at school on Friday 22nd April. It includes 2 eating apple trees a plum tree and a variety of berry bushes including blackcurrant, gooseberry, blueberry and strawberry. A big thank you to the Parent’s Association  for donating the money to fund the project. Thanks also to all the parents that helped to dig holes, donated berry bushes and planted! All your help is much appreciated. We all look forward to a delicious crop of fruit to eat!

ACTIVE WEEK

Active week was a great success at Billis N.S. We were so lucky to have the sun shining every day.

The pupils were presented with their active certificates at assembly on Friday. To end what was a very successful and action packed week, pupils who are involved in sport outside of school came dressed in their sports gear and gave a small talk on their sport to the rest of the pupils. It was very interesting to see the wide range of sporting activities that pupils are involved with: horse riding, hockey, rugby, soccer, gaelic football, hurling, tennis, basketball, badminton, karate, Judo, ballet, contemporary dance, carting, Irish dancing, boxing.

Many thanks to Cathy O’Toole & Andrew Clarke (The Irish Tug of War Association ), Michael Watters (Kenpo Karate Academy, Virginia) & Amanda Brady (lifeguard at Kells swimming pool) for coming into our school during the week.

Thank you to all the staff and pupils for taking part in the many activities during the week. Finally, a big thank you to our enthusiastic and energetic parents that helped out at the game stations on Tuesday and the forest walk on Thursday. It was great to have the extra help during the week!

Please visit the Active page to see lots more photos of all the action and activities captured during the week!
