The Doctor’s Surgery

Our new theme for our Aistear integrated play sessions is the ‘Doctor.’ Junior and Senior Infants have been busy working as doctors, nurses, receptionists and patients. A real doctor will visit us next Tuesday to talk about her job.

1916 Centenary Celebrations

As part of the Government’s 1916 Centenary Celebrations, every primary school in the country is to receive a copy of The Proclamation and a National Flag.  We in Billis received ours today.  It was presented to us by a member of the Defense Forces.  On the 15th March 2016, every school will raise The Flag in commemoration of 1916.  Every school is also being asked to write their own proclamation in which they will express their hopes for Ireland over the next 100 years.  This will be read at the raising of The Flag.  So put that date in your diary, as we hope to invite parents in to join our celebrations.

A Final Farewell to Mrs Barbara Smith

Mrs B Smith has been with us in school over the past few days helping out and tidying up some loose ends.  We are very grateful to her for her help.  However, she is now officially retired..or as she likes to say, she’s not retiring, she is just adding 5 days on to her weekends!!   We wish her every health and happiness in her retirement.  We will all miss her.

Here she is looking well as she models Emma McNeils’ wonderful creation..a dress and a handbag made out of ties! Emma made these and entered them into the Virginia Show.  Well done Emma! Such amazing talent and creativity!
